Welcome to a world of discovery!

Call me Sister! and Project ATHENA are new and exciting programs created for and by women who are living with HIV/AIDS. We have designed these programs to address the issues and concerns that many of us have about living with this disease. Education and information are the most important tools in making informed decisions about relationships, lifestyles, and behaviors. Making an informed decision requires answers, and that is what our programs provide!

Call me Sister! is a peer support program for women living with HIV/AIDS. The goal of Call me Sister! is to help women through the difficult transition of learning to live with their disease. As we all know, hearing a positive diagnosis can be a frightening and overwhelming event in a woman's life. Talking to someone who has been there and who knows what it's like can be of great help, and "Call me sister!" provides that opportunity. When you Call me Sister!, you can talk confidentially and one-on-one to a woman who is living with the virus. She can provide you with the information, referrals, and support that you need as a woman who is living with HIV. Knowing how and where to access services is vital, so Call me Sister!

Project ATHENA is a group workshop that addresses many of the concerns that we as mothers, sister, daughters, and partners face on a day-to-day basis. Our program offers a safe and confidential environment for women to discuss and explore a variety of issues relevant to healthier living including how to have a healthy and satisfying sex life, how to tell people in your life that you are HIV+, the risks associated with having a baby, the effects of drugs and alcohol on your health, the importance of medication, the value of good nutrition, and how to manage stress. These issues and many others are discussed as a means of helping you to decide what you want and are most comfortable with in your own life. Our goal is to build self-esteem and wellness, and to promote a healthier way of living. The Project ATHENA workshop is informative and provocative, not to mention fun. The women in Project ATHENA come from diverse backgrounds, but they all share one common element - they are all living with HIV. Project ATHENA provides a variety of activities to motivate, stimulate and inspire the Goddess that we all have within us.

Come join us on our journey of discovery! Discover the Goddess within you! Don't be afraid to Call me Sister!  If you would like to learn more about Project ATHENA or if you are interested in attending one of the workshops, please contact Kaye at 860-951-4833.
